Youth Mental Health Services

The Youth Mental Health Services was developed to address the needs of the youth in Deer Lake Frist Nation. The issues are similar to those effect adults with mental health issues such as anger, depression, and other assorted issues on per day capitia. These issues and lack of community resources was identified in the planning of health priorities in 1997, and the development of this program was developed to enhance the existing mental health program. It has produced very good results in the community.

Services provide are:

  • Youth Recreation Activities
  • Youth Counseling Services
  • Program Education and Promotion
  • Healing Circles
  • Youth Radio Show
  • Youth Support Services
  • Referrals to Outside and Band Based Services
  • Community Awareness on Youth Mental Health Issues
  • Workshops and Scheduled Events
  • The program increase social and recreational activities for the youth of our community. Program activities continues to evolve based on the needs identified by youths.
