The NNADAP ( National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program) is aimed at reducing levels of alcohol, drug, and solvent abuse among on-reserve populations. The program targets both youths and adults to reduce the negative effects of abuse. The program has been enhanced locally to ensure program is both culturally and traditional based thus improving program delivery to the community.

Program services are:

  • Support Services
  • Referrals to Outside and Band Based Programs
  • Prevention Activities ( awareness, cultural based events, and school )
  • Intervention ( recreation, social, and public )
  • Aftercare Programs ( counseling, support, outreach, and referrals )
  • The community program which began to evolve between the 1980-1990 integrated cultural based programming. This program offers both a christian and traditional based programming that is sensitive to all facets of the community spectrum.

Recreational activities (soccer, baseball, and hockey) continue to be conventional modes for program delivery. The introduction of cultural and land based activities have become increasing important in the continuation process to preserving our heritage and culture. Both methods have been incorporated in the delivery of the NNADAP Program.
